Lamentazione

Les Arts Florissants

Paul Agnew – conductor

Powerful choral forces. Sophisticated vocal lines intertwining in imposing and dramatic works, portraying with a new passion the poetic language of the Mass. With Leonardo Leo, Antonio Caldara and Domenico Scarlatti, religious music of the time was bedecked in new finery; grandiose, sensitive, endowed with a great harmonic and melodic richness. For this beautiful choral repertoire, Ambronay welcomes again Les Arts Florissants under the direction of Paul Agnew.

Miserere for double choir and other works by Leonardo Leo, Crucifixus for 16 voices by Antonio Caldara, Stabat Mater for 10 voices by Domenico Scarlatti.
