Les Indes dansantes

European Baroque Academy

Hervé Niquet – musical direction

Nathalie Pernette – choreography

Musical and choreographic work based on Jean-Philippe Rameau's Les Indes Galantes.

The epitome of the opéra-ballet genre under Louis XV, Rameau's Les Indes Galantes stands out as a result of its sumptuous score and lavish set. Dances which evoke Turkey, Persia and Peru, with an exoticism tinged with fantasy. Under the musical direction of Hervé Niquet, the European Baroque Academy gives, with Les Indes dansantes, a youthful, modern and colourful interpretation. Given over solely to the orchestra, a new score of exquisite timbres is brought into being in the service of dance. A dance which taps into current modern trends; hip-hop, tap, African and Indian dance… all to better serve the choreographic world of Nathalie Pernette.

Created within the framework of the Biennale de la danse de Lyon 2010.
